Four Photo Fridays: 4/8/11

April 8, 2011

Today’s four photos come to you in honor of our transition into one of my favorite seasons of the year. Though CNY has provided us with a few last-minute winter storms and crumby weather, it’s clear that spring is lurking around the corner and is only a few deep breaths of fresh-blossoming-floral air away.

This past weekend I was able to enjoy my first hike/nature photo-walk of the season.  With (an overly eager) Maple and camera in tow we ventured out onto some of the lower rim trails off of Buttermilk Falls.  It was such a gorgeous day with only the slightest nip in the air and despite the current absence of blossoming flowers and leafing trees I was still able to capture this beautiful transition of winter into spring.

  1. Branches Become Silhouettes (ISO: 400; Exposure: 1/800 sec; Aperture: 7.1; Focal Length: 51mm)
    • Silhouetted against a bright blue cloudy sky, I love the contrast between the dark lines and colored sky.
  2. Remains of Season’s Past (ISO: 400; Exposure: 1/100 sec; Aperture: 7.1; Focal Length: 55mm)
    • These berries, dried and shriveled still clung to freshly budding branches.
  3. Signs of Spring (taken at ISO: 400; Exposure: 1/100 sec; Aperture: 7.1; Focal Length: 55mm)
    • These teeny-tiny seedlings sprouted on a moss-covered fallen tree.
  4. Bat Dog (ISO: 1600; Exposure: 1/1000 sec; Aperture: 5.6; Focal Length: 55mm)
    • With ears perked up, Maple looked on as she heard something scurry in the woods.  I  love the composition of this one and adore that Maple’s ear nip scar is visible, it sure does make her look like one tough cookie.

Happy Friday!
